‘Nude’ judge wants stay of sex photo evidence

Lori Douglas is asking Federal Court to block a committee from seeing graphic sexual images of her.

WINNIPEG — A senior Manitoba judge is asking Federal Court to block a disciplinary committee from viewing graphic sexual photographs her husband took of her.

The stay ruling would be in effect until the courts can decide whether the pictures should be admitted as evidence.

The Canadian Judicial Council is slated to start disciplinary proceedings against Associate Chief Justice Lori Douglas within days.

One allegation she faces is that the photographs — posted on the Internet without her consent — are “demeaning to woman.”

The committee doesn’t need to see them to do its job, her lawyer said.

The panel does need to view the photographs to decide on Douglas’s future, said the committee’s independent counsel.
