Jilly’s strip club to become a boutique hotel

WATCH: How a boutique hotel development is changing Toronto’s Riverside neighbourhood.

TORONTO – The developer who purchased The Broadview Hotel, which currently houses Jilly’s strip club on Queen St. E. and Broadview Ave., wants to turn the location into a boutique hotel.

Streetcar Developments bought the building earlier this year and is scheduled to present its renovation plans to City Hall’s Committee of Adjustment on Wednesday.

According to a report from the Toronto Star, the plan would have the location equipped with a brand new ground-floor restaurant and 57 hotels rooms.

“For a building that’s so important to the neighbourhood and to the city I think it’s very important to have a use that’s, sort of, widely enjoyed by the neighbourhood and the public at large,” said Les Mallins, President and CEO of Streetcar Developments, in May.

The look of the red-brick structure is also expected to be retrofitted with glass and metal in the lower northern end.

Mallins tells the Star the company ran a poll about future uses for the site and the “boutique hotel was the overwhelming frontrunner.”
