WINNIPEG – The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have re-signed another one of its break out performers from 2014 inking running back Paris Cotton to a two-year contract. The 25-year-old rookie spent much of the season on the team’s practice roster but unseated Nic Grigsby as the starter late in the season and started the final four games of the regular season.

“Having the chance to showcase my abilities late in the season was a blessing,” Cotton told bluebombers.com. “Obviously, we didn’t accomplish what we wanted to this season, but I feel the foundation is really there. Drew is a great quarterback and we are only going to get stronger the more time we play together.”

In all, Cotton carried the ball 66 times for 361 yards with three touchdowns. He also had 92 yards receiving and 184 yards on kick returns.

“His numbers speak for themselves, to be quite honest,” said General Manager Kyle Walters. “He got an opportunity, and simply made the most of it. You look at what he did in those four starts, and it makes us eager to see what he can do over a full 18 games. Paris is a great young man, with strong work ethic, an abundance of athleticism, and a very team-first attitude. He’ll have an opportunity to be the starting tailback with us next season.”

The Bombers uncovered Cotton at a mini camp in Florida this past spring. He was playing on a one-year contract and would have become a free agent in February.
