New West Police looking for groping suspect

Police in New Westminster are looking for a suspect in two groping incidents last Sunday.

Police say that at around 8:45 p.m., a woman was walking in the 1800-block of 8th Avenue when she saw a man in dark clothing walking toward her.

As he passed, he reached out towards her and grabbed her breast. The woman screamed and the man fled toward Grimston Park.

A short time later, just after 9:00 p.m, another woman was walking in the 1800-block of 8th Avenue when she noticed a man ahead of her. As she walked past him, he exposed himself to her.

The suspect both of incidents is described as:

  • Caucasian male
  • Approximately 30 years old
  • 5’5” – 5’8″ with a medium build
  • Wearing a black baseball hat, black hoodie (hood up) and black sweatpants/jeans

“We are asking the public to be extra vigilant with respect to their surroundings in this area after dark,” said Sergeant Diana McDaniel. “Please report any similar incidents immediately to the police.”
