REGINA – Saskatchewan Government Insurance (SGI) is undertaking a review of auto injury coverage and is now asking the public for their input.
Earlier this year, SGI started the review by consulting those who have used the program and key stakeholders.
Their options for possible changes to the program have been compiled and now it’s the public’s turn to weigh in.
One thing that won’t change, according to SGI President and CEO Andrew Cartmell, is the option to be covered under no-fault or tort-injury coverage.
“Customers will continue to have that option, but certain aspects of coverage are being reviewed to measure the effectiveness of each program so we can better meet customers’ needs,” said Cartmell.
The consultation asks about current benefits and limits, exclusions and gaps in current coverage.
SGI is looking for input on benefit levels, the ability to sue an at-fault driver for those with no-fault coverage, discounts for retirees and injury coverage for motorcyclists.
Those wanting to express their opinion can do so by going to the SGI website or calling 306-751-3554 or toll-free at 1-800-667-8015 ext. 3554 to receive a paper copy.
The consultation ends at the end of November.
