Searchers find body of Southern Alberta man submerged in reservoir

RCMP say searchers have found the body of a man who went missing Saturday night. 25-year old Kirby Lust was last seen leaving a Medicine Hat pub in his pickup truck.

An aerial search was launched and on Wednesday, the truck was spotted partially submerged and encased in ice in a reservoir just south of Medicine Hat.

Crews chipped away the ice and removed the roof of the truck, but no body was found inside.

The search continued and on Thursday, divers recovered Lust’s body. It appeared he had tried to make it to shore.

Lust lived in Seven Persons, a hamlet 20 kilometres southwest of Medicine Hat.

In a statement posted on Facebook Thursday, the Lust family thanked everyone for an outpouring of support.
