TORONTO – A hold and secure has been lifted at Lorne Park Secondary School in Mississauga after a threat was made against the school on social media Wednesday morning.
Peel Regional Police said a person of interest sent a message that he would show up at the school with a weapon.
Authorities were able to locate the male off school grounds and the hold and secure was lifted just after 11:30 a.m.
Police were called after a student notified school administrators of the threat.
A media report said a former student issued a threat on the school using Instagram.
Police say it was a “broad threat” and not directed at anyone or any area of the school.
Police issued a statement on Twitter earlier in the day reassuring parents that their children were safe and there was no need to pick them up.
