B.C. remembers

WATCH: Canadians came together by the thousands today to remember those who have served and continue to serve our country. Tanya Beja reports.

Thousands of Canadians around the country attended some of the most well attended Remembrance Day ceremonies in years this morning.

In Vancouver, there was increased police presence around Victory Square, with officers monitoring the situation from the rooftops surrounding the area, as well as Emergency Response teams checking vehicles parked nearby.

WATCH : At many of today’s Remembrance Day ceremonies there was a presence among the crowds that was hard to miss. Global’s Jeremy Hunka has more on the heightened security this year.

This year, with the high profile deaths of Corporal Nathan Cirillo and Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent, the desire to honour Canada’s soldiers appears to be higher than ever.
