Halifax police asking public for help identifying man who stole transport truck

HALIFAX – Halifax Regional police are asking for the public’s help identifying a man who stole a transport truck and hit a minivan in the early hours of Oct. 31.

Police were called to Harvey’s at 3434 Kempt Road in Halifax at 4:16 a.m. after a transport truck was stolen. Two employees making a delivery at the restaurant said they saw a man get into the cab of the truck and drive away.

As he was leaving the parking lot, the suspect hit a minivan on Kempt Road and kept going. The driver of the minivan was not injured.

At 6 a.m., police were again called to the intersection of Jubilee Road and Chestnut Street, where the delivery truck had been abandoned.

A witness said they saw the suspect walking east on Jubilee Road with a woman.

Police searched the area, but did not find either person.

The suspect is described as a white man in his 20’s, 5’9″ with long, light brown hair. He was wearing light blue scrubs, had a hospital mask hanging from his neck, and was carrying a skateboard.

Police believe the suspect had experience driving large delivery trucks, and think he was at a Halloween party earlier that night.

Police are releasing two videos of the man driving the stolen truck, showing both the inside and outside of the truck. In it, you can see the suspect, as well as the collision with the minivan.
