Vancouver Police have made an arrest in a two year old hit-and-run that left a woman seriously injured.
Police say the 38-year-old woman is still suffering from injuries described as life-altering. She has had to undergo several surgeries as a result of the accident.
On November 8, 2012 at 1:00 a.m., the woman was struck in the intersection of Renfrew Street and Adanac Street by a car traveling south on Renfrew.
The driver fled the scene.
Police say they followed up relentlessly on leads, locating the vehicle and driver and gathering enough evidence to support recommending criminal charges.
“Our investigators never stop looking for those that fail to take responsibility for their actions,” says Inspector Les Yeo of the Vancouver Police Traffic Section.
29-year-old Terry Dai Yee Ma of Richmond has been charged with failing to remain at the scene of an accident causing bodily harm.
Vancouver Police say they are still looking for the person responsible for the deadly hit-and-run of 43-year-old Leonida Tumanda. She was struck and killed on December 2nd 2012 as she crossed the intersection at East 43rd Avenue and Prince Edward Street.
“If you happen to be a driver that made the regrettable decision at the time to leave the scene of a collision you can still do the right thing” says Inspector Yeo. “This latest arrest shows that while these investigations are complex and take time, our officers will not give up. If your conscience is bothering you, contact us before we come knocking on your door.”
