TORONTO – A giant pink condom was slipped over one of Sydney, Australia’s landmarks Friday as part of a new HIV prevention campaign.
Commissioned by AIDS Council Of New South Wales (ACON), the 18-metre tall bright pink rubber was rolled over the Hyde Park Obelisk as part of the organization’s “I’M ON” safe sex campaign aimed at gay men.
While new drugs are beginning to provide other means of protection against the spread of HIV, ACON CEO Nicolas Parkhill says condoms are still key in the fight against transmission.
The pink prophylactic will remain in place for a week.
