The new Bailey bridge connecting New Westminster and Coquitlam is expected to open next week.
The existing bridge will be replaced with two single-lane Bailey Bridges to allow for two-way traffic flow. One of the bridges will also include pedestrian and bike pathways.
The new crossing was supposed to be open in mid-September, but the project was delayed.
Both the cities of New Westminster and Coquitlam reached a deal to replace the bridge this past summer.
The total cost of the replacement for the bridge will be shared between both cities and is estimated at $1.2 million.
