New information is coming to light about the bus company involved in a horrific crash on the Coquihalla in August that injured dozens of people.
A national safety code audit of Western Bus Lines uncovered “serious false statements, and driving over daily and cumulative hours.”
Driver fatigue was suspected as a factor in the crash.
The September 5th audit says these issues need to be addressed and steps taken to avoid future occurrences.
The NDP obtained the safety audit through a freedom of information request.
Despite repeated requests by Global News, Western Bus Lines has refused to comment.
The NDP is challenging the government for sitting on the safety audit.
“The audit found that drivers have been on duty for 15 hours straight,” said Claire Trevena, NDP Transportation Critic, in the Legislature today.
Transportation Minister Todd Stone says they are awaiting results of an RCMP investigation.
“The government believes it’s very important to get all the facts before final conclusions are formed,” he says.
