REGINA – Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall says a New West Partnership summit will focus on the future of the region’s transportation system in response to railway backlogs that plagued the Prairies earlier this year.
Western Canadian farmers harvested a record crop of grain but it caused a railway transportation bottleneck in the spring.

Wall says delegates attending the summit tonight and Thursday will include representatives from various exporting industries, port authorities, rail and trucking companies.
The New West Partnership was created in 2010 and is an agreement between Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia.
Wall says he hopes to create recommendations for a review of the Canada Transportation Act.
