Blades downed by Hitmen 4-1

SASKATOON – Adam Tambellini struck twice and added an assist for the Calgary Hitmen as they defeated the Saskatoon Blades 4-1 on Tuesday in Western Hockey League action.

The win snaps a four-game losing streak for the Hitmen (8-8-1).

Pavel Karnaukhov and Radel Fazleev also scored the Calgary.

Nick Zajac found the back of the net for his fourth goal of the year early in the second period for the Blades (5-12-0), who lost their third straight.

Mack Shields got the win in net for the Hitmen, making 25 saves. Trevor Martin turned aside 26 shots for Saskatoon.

Calgary was 1 for 3 on the man advantage while the Blades were scoreless on three tries.

The Blades look to snap their losing streak when they take on the Wheat Kings Friday in Brandon.

In other action, Steven Owre and Cole Sandford scored 26 seconds apart as the Medicine Hat Tigers edged the Swift Current Broncos 2-1.

The win snaps a two-game skid for Medicine Hat (12-3-1).

Coda Gordon had a first-period goal for the Broncos (10-8-2).

Justin Hickman had two goals in regulation and also had the lone goal in the shootout as the Seattle Thunderbirds got by the Red Deer Rebels 3-2.

Hickman’s goals were his third and fourth of the season for the Thunderbirds (7-6-3).

Brooks Maxwell and Adam Musil chipped in for the Rebels (8-7-2), who had their five-game winning streak halted.
