WINNIPEG – Greg Selinger swore in a new cabinet for his embattled NDP government Monday – adding some new faces from the back bench and shuffling around several serving minister to fill the holes left by five ministers who quit. When the dust settled, the cabinet was one member smaller than the previous version. Among the backbenchers promoted: Drew Caldwell (Brandon East) , Deanne Crothers (St. James), Melanie Wight (Burrows) and Greg Dewar (Selkirk). They’re not all rookies: Caldwell served in cabinet under former premier Gary Doer.
