ST, CATHARINES, Ont. – A 51-year old man has been critically injured in a residential fire in St. Catharines.
Fire fighters got to the scene at 30 Hamilton St. shortly before midnight and found smoke pouring from one unit of a three apartment building.
They rescued a man from the unit and quickly got the fire out.
The victim was given emergency care at the scene and then taken to hospital where he was last reported in critical condition.
The occupants of the other apartments were initially evacuated but were later allowed to go home.
The Office of the Ontario Fire Marshall, the St Catharines Fire Department and Niagara Regional Police are all investigating, however, foul play is not suspected at this time.
