Two seniors dead in Etobicoke house fire

TORONTO – The Ontario fire marshal is investigating after two people died in a house fire early Sunday morning in west-end Toronto.

Capt. Mike Strapko says firefighters responded to the blaze near Martin Grove and Dixon roads around 3:30 a.m.

An 80-year-old man and a 76-year-old woman were found without vital signs in separate areas of the semi-detached house.

Paramedics performed CPR, but both were pronounced dead soon after.

The Ontario fire marshal is investigating but the fire isn’t considered suspicious at this point.

Toronto Fire Services division commander Bob O’Hallarn says crews were able to stop the blaze from spreading to the adjacent home, but that the design of the building helped as well.
