Violent home invasion in Richmond

Richmond RCMP are investigating a violent home invasion that sent one man to hospital after he confronted four intruders early Saturday morning.

Around 3 a.m., police were called to the Jack Bell Drive area near Cambie Secondary School after the homeowner whispered into her phone that four men were in her house.

The victim’s husband confronted the men, but he was attacked and is now suffering from non-life threatening injuries.

Perhaps most concerning, RCMP say the couple’s four-year-old son was asleep inside the house during the attack.

The victims were not able to provide a description of the suspects or their vehicle to authorities.

Richmond RCMP say they believe the attack may have been targeted, but they’re not sure why.

“As far as we can tell right now, this was not random,” says Cpl. Stephanie Ashton of Richmond RCMP. “We’re still trying to determine exactly why this house was targeted.”

Police say the house is not known to them and they have no suspects. They are asking anyone who witnessed anything unusual to contact them by email at Richmond_Tips@rcmp-grc.gc.ca or to remain anonymous call Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
