VANCOUVER – A 20-year-old man has now been charged with first-degree murder in the death of a man in Surrey in 2013.
Twenty-eight-year-old Craig Widdifield was shot multiple times on April 24, 2013, outside the Morgan Crossing shopping centre in Surrey.
The newlywed was getting into his Mercedes at the time and there were multiple witnesses to what happened.
Police believe the shooting was targeted due to Widdifield’s association to individuals connected to organized crime. Brody Paterson is now facing first-degree murder charges.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) says the two men did not know each other but that Paterson was working for others in organized crime.
S/Sgt. Dwayne McDonald from IHIT says they believe this will not be the only arrest made in this case.
