Woman sexually assaulted in south Winnipeg home

WINNIPEG – A Winnipeg man is charged with forcing his way into a woman’s home and sexually assaulting her on Wednesday afternoon.

Jeffrey Alexander Hilz, 52, is charged with sexual assault causing bodily harm, overcoming resistance by attempting to choke, suffocate or strangle another person and unlawfully being in a dwelling.

Hilz allegedly went to the south Winnipeg home of a 42-year-old woman who knows him and when she opened the door, forced his way in.

Once in, he hit and sexually assaulted her, police said.

The woman broke free and ran from her home, then called police.

Police received the call and were dispatched at about 2:30 p.m.

When they arrived they arrested Hilz, who is being held in custody.
