UPDATE: Pedestrian killed after attempting to cross Upper Levels highway

WATCH: Two pedestrians were killed in two different accidents in Metro Vancouver on Wednesday. Catherine Urquhart reports.

A 29-year-old North Vancouver man lost his life after attempting to cross the Upper Levels Highway Wednesday afternoon.

According to police, the man tried to sprint across Highway 1 at Lloyd Avenue. He made it across the westbound lanes but after he jumped the centre divider, he was struck and killed by an eastbound vehicle.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with police.

The Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service attended the scene to conduct a forensic analysis of the incident.

The man’s name is not being released at this time.

It was one of two accidents claiming the life of a pedestrian on Wednesday.
