The two pedestrians, 19-year-old Fabio Camacho and 20-year-old Lea Ferret, were crossing 72nd Avenue in a marked crosswalk when a white-coloured vehicle, possibly a Mazda, struck them as it turned eastbound onto 72nd Avenue.

The driver did not stop and sped off. Police say the suspect car would have damage to the front and hood area.

Both pedestrians suffered major lower body injuries, but have since been released from hospital.
