REGINA – Canadian trick-or-treaters aren’t letting go of Frozen-themed costumes this year, according to a recent survey.
“When the costumes came in, the costumes went out,” said Erin Nelson, supervisor at Spirit Halloween in the south end of the city.
Value Village’s annual Halloween survey found that Canadians believe the Disney movie will be the top movie-related costume inspiration.
That was not a surprise to Nelson.
“Disney hasn’t put out a whole lot of princesses for this generation so why not? This is their princess,” she said in front of a nearly sold out Frozen costume section on Saturday.
Costumes based on characters from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, How to Train Your Dragon, Maleficient, Transformers are some of this year’s other top picks, she added.
“When we were younger, just being a ghost or being a witch, a devil, or an angel has definitely changed quite a bit over the last couple of years,” said Nelson.
Of course, dressing up isn’t limited to people.
“Usually the favourite is something to do with skeletons but maybe we’ll get into decapitated heads this year, I don’t know,” said Karla Worsley as she shopped for items to decorate her house.
The survey, conducted by Kelton during the summer of this year, included 1,033 Canadian consumers aged over 18.
