CALGARY- Saturday is the last day for advance voting ahead of the four Alberta byelections scheduled for Monday.
On Friday, candidates spent the day knocking on doors and meeting with constituents.
Byelections are planned in Calgary-Elbow, Calgary-West, Edmonton-Whitemud and Calgary-Foothills, which is Premier Jim Prentice’s riding.
Prentice was among the candidates going door-to-door.
The Wildrose says Albertans are fed up with the PCs and their policies, but Prentice says he’s been listening to voters and will deliver.
“They want decisive leadership, common sense, decency and respect for them as tax payers,” Prentice said. “And so, that’s what I’ve tried to offer since I became the premier and that’s what I’m prepared to do.”
Wildrose leader Danielle Smith says the way Prentice has behaved as current premier is a sign that nothing has changed within the PC party.
“I have to say, that when you see the kind of behavior of the current premier – appointing friend, creating jobs for political appointees, refusing to return illegal donations, using tax payer money to make announcements, bailing on important public debates and forums. That to me just demonstrates he’s behaving the same kind of way that we’ve seen from previous premiers,” Smith said.
Advance voting wraps up Saturday at 8 p.m.
