Offender David Bobbitt back in Penticton Court Monday

PENTICTON – After the latest adjournment, the dangerous offender hearing resumed Monday for a Penticton man who confined, beat and sexually assaulted a young woman.

David Wesley Bobbitt is being held in custody after pleading guilty to seven charges stemming from the horrific assaults in August, 2011.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

The 22-year-old victim was shopping at Bobbitt’s second-hand store when he attacked her over a period of about 15 hours.

Her two-year-old son was present but was not hurt.

Bobbitt is also suspected of sexually assaulting another woman in 2007 but charges were never laid in that case.

If designated a dangerous offender, Bobbitt will be locked up indefinitely to protect the public.

The Crown’s application relies heavily on psychiatric evaluations.
