WATCH: Kelowna Yacht Club—Bigger and Better

After a year and half of construction, the new Kelowna Yacht Club is celebrating its grand opening.

The $10,000,000, two storey facility has been a project ten years in the making.

“Most of the project was in negotiation of where the club was going to be with the city and working with land purchase agreement and things like that,” says Commodore Mike Terris.

The facility features a large upper deck and restaurant for its 1,500 members.

The building also has a boardroom, a banquet room and classroom for sailing courses.

The space can be rented out to the public.

The building, which is three times the size of the old yacht club, will also house a Cactus Club restaurant.

“They are in their design phase now. They won’t start construction until December and their target date is May long weekend,” says Terris.

The Kelowna Yacht Club is planning a public tour of its new facility in the near future.
