VANCOUVER – Family and friends of dozens of people missing following snow storms and avalanches in Nepal are anxiously waiting for news of their loved ones.

A nurse at B.C. Children’s Hospital has been confirmed to be one of the people who died in the avalanche.

Twenty-nine-year-old Matt Adams of West Kelowna has now managed to get in touch with his loved ones to say that he is safe.

He was visiting Nepal to trek the 200-kilometre trail around the Annapurna Mountains.

Meanwhile, people working at the Vancouver offices of Waterproof Studios say they are relieved to hear that their colleague Paul Cech and his wife are safe.

They were also hiking in the affected region.
