Police track 2 stolen vehicles from Abbotsford to Surrey

VANCOUVER – Several RCMP detachments across the Lower Mainland are involved in the investigation of two stolen vehicles from Chilliwack.

They attracted the attention of the police helicopter as they began travelling together in Abbotsford around 1 a.m. on Friday.

The thieves avoided a roadblock set up by police and then sped across Langley and parts of Surrey.

Eventually the man driving a white Ford Escape lost control of the vehicle. He was arrested after slamming into a ditch in Newton, Surrey. The 27-year-old man is well-known to police.

The other vehicle, a grey Ford Escape, was abandoned by two men in another part of Newton. They tried to run away but were arrested shortly after. The driver, 34 years old from Langley, and his passenger, 23 years old from Delta, are known to police.

All three suspects were arrested on multiple charges of Possession of Stolen Property, Flight from Police, Dangerous Driving, and Breach of Conditional Sentence Order.

A search of both of the stolen vehicles revealed possible stolen items inside. RCMP say no “police pursuit ever took place in the arrest of these suspects.”
