The 41-year-old male victim was shot by a police officer following “an interaction” with police.

The man was transported to Hamilton General Hospital in life-threatening condition but later succumbed to his injuries.

The SIU probes all police-related incidents involving death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.

The watchdog organization has assigned seven investigators and three forensic investigators to the case.
