WATCH: Kelowna Mounties put significant dent in supply of illicit drugs on city streets

When Kelowna RCMP pulled over a vehicle in August, officers found a kilogram each of cocaine and methamphetamine.

That sparked an investigation that resulted in the seizure a lot more drugs when police raided two homes at the same time early last Friday morning.

“In total police seized 1.515 kilograms of cocaine, 1.038 kilograms of methamphetamine, 65 grams of ecstasy (MDMA), 224 grams of heroin and 403 grams of hashish,” says Cst. Jesse O’Donaghey.

O’Donaghey says the street value of the drugs exceeds $600,000.

Also seized in the residential raids were almost $19,000, about 500 rounds of ammunition, body armour and six vehicles believed to be the proceeds of crime.

Two Kelowna men in their 30’s are facing drug trafficking charges when they appear in court in December.

“It is believed that the amount of drugs seized as a result of this investigation will have a profound impact on the local drug trade,” says O’Donaghey.
