SASKATOON – Thursday morning’s rain and cooler temperatures may have some starting to hunker down for more chilly weather.

For those with such plans in mind, you may be in for a pleasant surprise.

After a frosty and foggy start to Friday as temperatures dip a few degrees below freezing, the mercury will once again on the rise through the weekend into next week.

The warmth will come with a wallop of wind both Friday and into Saturday with gusts in excess of 50 kilometres at hour at times. That strong southerly flow will bump temperatures into the teens through the weekend with cloudy skies Saturday and sunshine Sunday.

Saskatoon will remain well above normal into next week with near record-breaking heat Monday and Tuesday as temperatures approach 20 degrees.

Monday’s high temperature record in the city is 22.2 degrees from 1974 and Tuesday’s is 23.3 from 1940.

Typically Saskatoon sees 2.1 days above 20 degrees in October.

So far, October 2014 has had two days above the 20 degree mark – 21.7 degrees on Oct. 11 and 14 – with possibly more to come.
