TORONTO – Environment Canada has issued a weather advisory for parts of the Greater Toronto Area, warning of the development of funnel clouds this evening.
The advisory is for:
- Newmarket – Georgina – Northern York Region
- Pickering – Oshawa – Southern Durham Region
- Uxbridge – Beaverton – Northern Durham Region
- Vaughan – Richmond Hill – Markham
There is the possibility of the development of funnel clouds due to weak rotation under weak thunderstorms. These types of funnel clouds don’t normally pose a danger to the ground.
However, if you see a funnel cloud, Environment Canada urges you to treat it seriously and take shelter.
Around 4 p.m. thunderstorms were moving across north of the city.
