TORONTO – Peel police have arrested a 32-year-old man in connection to the murder of a woman found inside a Mississauga hotel room over the weekend.

Niran Vade “Nick” Murray of Mississauga has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of Evelyn Bumatay Castillo, 43, of Thornhill.

The victim was discovered without vital signs around 6:38 p.m. at the Quality Inn on Britannia Road East in Mississauga on Saturday Oct. 11.

Emergency crews found the body after initially responding to a fire in one of the rooms.

Castillo was taken to hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.

Police say the victim died of injuries suffered prior to being discovered in the hotel room but the exact cause of death has not been released.

Investigators say Castillo, in addition to being employed as a care giver, was working in the sex trade.

“Murray is currently before the courts facing an allegation of assault and mischief,” said Inspector George Koekkoek in a press conference Thursday. “The victim in that case was a sex trade worker and alleged to have occurred in a hotel as well.”

Police are canvassing the area for witnesses and searching for other potential victims.

“We do have reason to believe that he may have assaulted other woman in the past, specifically sex trade workers,” said Insp. Koekkoek.
