KELOWNA — A part of Kelowna’s history was reduced to rubble Wednesday.
Crews began tearing down the old Kelowna Yacht Club on Water Street this morning.
The building used to be an old radio station (CKOV).
It was purchased in 1951 for $150.00 and moved to its current location where it was renovated in 1965 and again in 1986.
The new yacht club is now located where the Water Street Seniors Centre used to be.
Construction of the new club is months behind schedule.
It will officially open this Friday.
The new seniors centre moved to the Parkinson Rec Centre.
The old yacht club land will be home to the expansion of Stuart Park.
