WINNIPEG – Evan Wardley of the Seattle Thunderbirds in the Western Hockey League has been suspended for seven games for a dirty hit that put Jets prospect Nic Petan out of a game on the weekend.
Wardley, 20, was given a game misconduct for the check to Petan’s head in Portland on Oct. 11. Petan, a 19-year-old centre from Delta, B.C., plays for the Portland Winterhawks.

“The hit resulted in an injury to opponent,” the WHL discipline webpage notes. “The player is a repeat offender.”
Wardley was also handed a two-game suspension for a boarding major and a game misconduct last season.
But in a good sign for the young player, Petan was on the bus for a trip to Moose Jaw, Sask., for a game against the Warriors Friday, and then Brandon for a game against the Wheat Kings Saturday.
