17 animatronic dinosaurs will be introduced to the Calgary Zoo’s Prehistoric Park following a thorough refurbishment of the exhibit.
“These massive machines that mimic dinosaur behaviour will literally breathe new life into Prehistoric Park and much like the dinosaurs themselves, bring that area of the zoo back to life,” says Lindsey Galloway, Director of Communications at the Calgary Zoo.
The zoo hired Vancouver company, Dinosaurs Unearthed to bring back the realistic, fleshy robots, which were part of the Dinosaurs Alive exhibit back in 2010.
They are engineered to move and vocalize as the creatures would have back in Prehistoric times.
“We’ve increased our programming space and efforts to educate our visitors on how we learn about dinosaurs and the role they played in the Alberta Badlands,” says Roz Freeman, Special Events Advisor.
Prehistoric Park will remain closed to prepare for the arrival of the animatronic dinosaurs.
The whole area will reopen in March 2015 to make way for the new exhibit.
