The website for the University of New Brunswick Students’ Union was hacked on Monday night and replaced with a message of support for the militant group ISIS.
For about two hours, the site displayed a message proclaiming it had been “Hacked By Team System Dz” with the text “i love you isis” written underneath.

The message was eventually removed and the site was restored to normal.
Greg Bailey, president of the students’ union, said the breach has been reported to authorities, but he’s not too concerned about it.
“This is by no means targeted at us,” he said. “So really, we’re just treating it as an act of vandalism.”
Police have confirmed the incident is being investigated.

Bailey said the website’s hosting provider has told them it is switching to a new server and will upgrade its security to protect against future attacks.
“We were lucky because we don’t actually have any student info or confidential documents on our website,” he said. “No real damage was done to use other than the fact that our website was down for two hours.”
