REGINA –  Three local boys delivered thousands of bottles, cans, and other recyclables to SARCAN  Friday morning, expecting to raise thousands of dollars for triplets in Edmonton battling eye cancer.

“Very tiring but it’s worth it because saving a kid’s life is worth it,” said Mason Engele, 12, said of the bottle drive, which he organized with his close friends Thomas Puetz, 11, and Luke Hanson, 12.

All three share the same first names of the triplets; the original reason the boys got involved.

The triplets require regular treatment at Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children.

The trio are open to committing to another fundraising challenge.

“To me, everyone who’s fighting cancer is the real hero, so you might as well do it over again,” said Hanson.
