With the start of the National Hockey League season now here, we’ve compiled a list of Manitoba players who are beginning the season on an NHL roster.

There were 52 Manitoba-trained players at NHL training camps, but only 20 will begin the season on an NHL roster.  In addition, Brandon’s Ryan White is on the Philadelphia Flyers’ injured list and fellow Brandon product Joel Edmundson is on the St. Louis Blues’ injured list.

The New Jersey Devils have no less than three Manitobans on their roster to start the season, and 22 of the league’s 30 teams had a Manitoban attending camp.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

We want to know who is your favourite Manitoban in the NHL. For the purpose of the poll, Manitoban is defined as a player who grew up in the province playing in the Hockey Manitoba association. It does not include Winnipeg-born players who received their hockey training elsewhere, such as Duncan Keith (Blackhawks), Patrick Sharp (Blackhawks), and Carter Ashton (Maple Leafs).
