UPDATE: South Okanagan sex offender turns himself in

UPDATE: Keremeos RCMP confirmed Thursday afternoon O’Donaghey turned himself in. He surrendered to police in Chilliwack and is scheduled back in court Wednesday to reassign his sentencing hearing.

PENTICTON, B.C. — A South Okanagan mother and her family were supposed to finally receive some closure.

“It’s not over, and it just seems to be going on, and on, and on,” says the frustrated mother. “My son is not going to be able to move on until this is over.”

Roy O’Donaghey has been convicted of two counts of exposing himself to people under the age of 16 in December 2013.

Wednesday was supposed to be his sentencing hearing, but he failed to show up in court.

O’Donaghey’s lawyer, James Pennington, admits that he hasn’t had any luck in contacting his client recently.

The victim’s mother, who cannot be identified to protect her child, is now fearing the worst.

“I think he’s disappearing. He knows there’s a date in court and he knows that he’s guilty — and he’s running.”

Now police are looking for him.  There is a province-wide warrant is issued for his arrest.
