VANCOUVER – Deliberations at the coroner’s inquest into the suicide of Lucia Jimenez have been delayed. She is the Mexican national who hanged herself while awaiting deportation in CBSA custody last December.

On Monday more witnesses took the stand, including the man in charge of the Genesis contract that lays out the duties of the security guards hired by YVR.

The inquest heard up until two months ago, 70 per cent of the checks were not being done at the detention facility due to under staffing.

Training of guards was also minimal while the company was raking in millions of dollars in profit from the contract.

Jury deliberations are expected to begin on Tuesday.
