VANCOUVER — A stream of motorcycles took the streets today for a good cause.

The bikers were playing Mr. and Mrs. Claus by delivering toys to the Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau.

From seasoned experts to old pros, the thousands of riders came from all over B.C. and brought toys that will go to the 50,000 to 60,000 children the Christmas Bureau helps every year.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

“I’d like to thank everybody for coming out today,” says Chris Bayliss, the executive director of the bureau. “People came a long way.”

The riders started at Coquitlam Centre and rode down to the PNE site at Hastings St. to deliver their packages. It’s the biggest toy gathering event of the year for the charity.

“If you can’t have fun riding a motorcycle and helping children at Christmas, you can’t have fun anywhere,” says Bayliss.
