WINNIPEG – Over 300 runners raised about $15,000 Sunday so that children in the Pembina Trails School Division receive healthy breakfasts every morning.
“It’s so that kids who maybe don’t get a good breakfast at home start their day off with a full belly ready to learn,” said Laura Cabak, one of the organizing committee volunteers.
The 11th annual Linden Woods Fall Classic hosted at the École Van Walleghem School aims to encourage children and their families to live healthy, active lifestyles. The event started as a way to raise funds and build a play ground located behind the school and has since raised over $120,000 for projects in the community.
“It’s a great way for kids and families to support other kids and families so that’s really positive,” said Cabak.
All of the participants enjoyed a post-race pasta brunch along with prizes after the 10k and 5k family-friendly race.
