WINNIPEG – Superhero and princess costumes filled The Forks on Saturday in support of The Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada.
“I think it’s a really good environment to raise money but at the same time have fun and raise people’s spirits,” Elsie Tillier who has cystic fibrosis, a life shortening fatal genetic disease. She received her wish to go to Disneyland from the foundation in 2011.
The 9th annual Wishmaker walk happens every year across the country in support of The Children’s Wish Foundation, which grants wishes to kids who are three to 17 years old and face a life threatening illness.
This year’s theme in Winnipeg was Princesses and Superheroes and the fundraising goal was $20,000. All of the money raised at the 5km walk goes toward the foundation to help grant more wishes.
“To have something for a child has fought and battled and just endured so much, for them to have something that’s just their own and something that’s fun and carefree is really important,” said Morgan Pisni-Ray, one of the parents at the event.
