71-year-old man dies after collision with cyclist in Stanley Park

VANCOUVER – A 71-year-old man who suffered serious head injuries in a collision with a cyclist in Stanley Park Friday afternoon has now died.

Police say the man was crossing the road at about 4 p.m. near the totem poles when he was struck by a 57-year-old man riding a bike.

The older man was knocked to the ground and was then rushed to hospital, where he died early this morning.

The cyclist was not injured and remained at the scene. He was emotionally shaken and is cooperating with the police.

This is Vancouver’s second pedestrian fatality this year.
