WATCH: A South Carolina road rage victim is speaking out after an enraged driver got out of his truck, walked over to his car and began punching him in the face. It was all caught on camera. Raymond Owens reports.
TORONTO – Security video has been released of a dramatic case of road rage in South Carolina.
Robert Allsbrook was turning off the highway in his car Tuesday, enroute to a middle school in Moncks Corner. That’s when Allsbrook admittedly got in the turn lane early. The driver in front, Marty Richberg, reacted by stopping his pickup truck on the road.
Allsbrook then decided to just go around the vehicle and deliver a message to the driver of the stopped truck.
“I flipped him off as I was going by because I was like what is wrong with this dude,” said Allsbrook.
By the time Allsbrook arrived at the school, tempers had reached a boiling point. Within moments, Richberg can be seen getting out of his truck and marching straight over to where Allsbrook sat in his car.
“I can’t really remember exactly what he said, seemed like it was along the lines of, I wouldn’t have followed you, if you hadn’t tried to pass me,” Allsbrook said. “I didn’t know what he was going to do but I immediately got upset.”
At that point, the security video shows Richberg punching Allsbrook in the face and giving him a black eye.
“So, I open the door and he slammed the door back on me, just kept wailing on me you know and really hit me so hard I had to sit back down, I couldn’t really do anything.”
Richberg later called police and turned himself in. He’s now charged with disorderly conduct and assault. If convicted, Richberg is facing a fine and up to 30 days in jail.
