WATCH: Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright totally unfazed by fire alarm during press conference

St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright has been on fire as of late – but this may be pushing it a little.

The right-handed ace was speaking to reporters at Dodgers Stadium Thursday, ahead of Friday’s first game of the National League Division Series against the L.A. Dodgers.

Wainwright was in the middle of answering a question when his press conference had an unexpected interruption: the fire alarm.

Major league pitchers are known for being cool under pressure, and Wainwright didn’t miss a beat as the emergency klaxons blared.

“I have this effect on people,” Wainwright joked.

A few seconds later, the three-time All-Star asked if he should continue with the press conference.

“Should I power through it, or just wait?” Wainwright said.

Eventually, Wainwright was able to finish his media availability, and no one was hurt (except perhaps whoever happened to be doing a mic check when the fire alarm first went off).

Afterwards, Wainwright joked that Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw was to blame for the interruption.

“It was all a ploy so we could get all the media in here,” Wainwright said. “He wasn’t going to make it, so he pulled the fire alarm.”
