For one teenager facing criminal charges in Ohio, a request to hand over his phone was apparently the last straw.

A video released by Berea City Court showed the chaotic scene as an 18-year-old tried to flee the courtroom, jumping on top of tables while the judge kept adding days to his sentence.

William Demopoulos was in court last week for the probation hearing, having previously faced charges including criminal damaging, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, and obstructing official business.

The judge asked Demopoulos to hand over his phone, a request he did not take kindly.

“What’s on the phone you don’t want us to find?” the judge could be heard asking him.

“Nothing. I don’t see no need for you guys to confiscate my phone and go through it,” Demopoulos replied.

The teen tried to walk out of court, leading to a stern rebuke from the judge to “Stand there and stand like a man.”

“It’s not right man. I’m telling you, it’s not right. The system is so messed up,” Demopoulos said to the judge.

The judge threatened Demopoulos with jail time if he didn’t comply – and minutes later, he tried to flee the courtroom.

The agitated teen jumped onto a table and leapt into a crowd of deputies, trying to make a run for the door.

Meanwhile, the judge kept adding days to the 18-year-old’s sentence.

“That’s 60 on top of the 30,” he warned the teen as he struggled with the deputies. “You want to go for 90?”

Thanks to the outburst, Berea Police charged Demopoulos with resisting arrest.

Demopolous’ father told Action 19 News in Cleveland that the teen suffers from intermittent explosive disorder, and had been off his medication prior to the outburst.
