WATCH: Firefighter gives puppy mouth-to-mouth after blaze rescue

TORONTO – A firefighter is being called an angel by locals after attempting to rescue a puppy from a house fire and giving it mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.

According to U.K. media, Carlos Arana and his team were battling a blaze in Valencia, Spain, when they reportedly found an unconscious two month-old Yorkshire Terrier—and a 10-year-old poodle—under a collapsed stairwell.

It was then that Arana “grabbed the puppy and ran outside where he started pumping its chest.”

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

“The poor little thing was completely limp but Carlos was determined to save him,” said fireman Cristobel Jover Badia, who filmed the incident on his phone. “He put an oxygen mask over its muzzle but when neither that nor the pumping worked he carefully pried its mouth open and started giving it mouth-to-mouth.”
